Series Title: The Court of Sebald
This series of paintings is part of an ongoing exploration into the complexity of human roles; how we perform power, intimacy, fear, and control. At the center of these scenes is a recurring character: a humanoid duck I’ve named Sebald. He’s strange, familiar, absurd, and sometimes unsettling. For me, Sebald represents a kind of shape-shifting persona- a figure who can embody authority, vulnerability, playfulness, deception, or even innocence, depending on the scene.
